Our very first Euphonic 18 fret resonator tenor banjo is ready. The 18 fret neck is constructed from Hundoran mahogany with centre laminates of walnut and maple. The side binding are made from figured maple with brass side position markers. The headsock features the íon logo hand cut in mother of pearl, geared Gotoh machine tuners with solid ebony buttons. The fretboard is made from rosewood featuring MOP floral design in the centre frets.
The rim is constructed from block maple with mahogany veneer and intricate wood marquetry. The arch top tonering is our own unique made brass bar and ring type. 28 steel/nickel plated hooks and nuts made in Oregan, USA and 28 floral pattern flange plates. This model will feature our own 4mm nickel plated one piece flange which is currently in production.
The concaved resonator is made from maple laminates and finished in pomele mahogany veneers and solid maple bindings on the side walls. The back of the resonator also features a centre strip, matching the centre laminates of the neck.
Other nice features is the hand made arm rest which is made from the off cut of the neck block. The wooden armrest feels much nicer to the wrist position and ideal for anyone who has allergies to nickel plating found on common type armrests. The tailpiece is the 4 adjustable Oettinger type which is ideal for fine tuning the downward pressure on the banjo. The bridge is our very own Rioga 5/8″ maple and brown ebony tip.
This is a quality professional model tenor banjo fitted with our German made phosphor bronze strings, gauges 12, 18w, 26w, 38w. The tone is exceptional, very clear on all notation throughout the fretboard and especially easy to reach the 7th fret. We look forward to it’s official launch in July and to hear your feedback.
As our branding ideas are in early development, all of our banjo models will now feature the Rioga logo on the headstock. The original íon name for this model is now changed to the Euphonic.
There is a new tenor banjo model in development which will be similar to the Maple Leaf. This will come with a larger concaved resonator and Rioga flange. It will also have fancier trim and intricate wood marquetry.
